June 20th 2013 The Carp Monsta

This is the first species of fish that I have fallen for this hard since I First met Tuna and before that False Albacore. With all of the misunderstanding and Hate surrounding the species it becomes very difficult for anglers to get a clear image of them as the magnificent gamefish they truely are. I would cut a limb off to have the state shut down one of the lame put and take trout lakes and instead manage one as a Carp Sport fishery. These fish provide nonstop action year round and will challange even the best of anglers. This fish today put me through more hell than any striped bass ever has, according to my mentor in the species dave, this fish was not only one of the largest carp landed in RI but one of the largest freshwater fish ever landed in the state. I have a tremendous respect for this fish and can say the only thing that excited me more watching its massive shape appear from the murky water, was the rush I got watching it swim away, after letting it go a few seconds later. There aren't a hell of a lot of them, its definately a finite fishery and until we catch on here in the states like they have in Europe we gotta take good care of them!
