Well we finally wrapped up the 2012 show season. It was a nice way to get the juices flowing for the season and meet up with clients, both our loyal regulars and some promising new friends.
Having kept my ear close to the wall it sounds like its going to be an early season this year. On average many of the temps are as high as 11 degrees F more than they were this time last year. The Herring have already been spotted in many of their normal runs. And a few of my die hard surf buddies have already begun to pick away at school bass on the south shore.
In the upper Narragansett bay it seems as though in addition to the early arrival of the herring, some of the pogies decided to stick it over the winter and are still here!
Based on what I'm seeing now I think were looking at as much as a 3 week head start on our bio system across the board! It wouldn't surprise me if we found ourselves catching early run bass around the upper bay islands before the end of April. Keep an eye out for an early squid run too!
I'll keep you guys posted as we get out on the water this season both for fun and with clients. I'll give you the good bad and the ugly so stay tuned for more updates!
Tight Lines this season fellow addicts, I'll look forward to seeing you on the water!
Capt Jack
